Frequented Asked Questions

It is very important to have clear and distinct ideas about all things. After working for almost two decades as an independent consultant, I realized that client's doubts are, invariably, more or less the same.

So please take a look at the frequently asked questions posted below and, if your question is not here, we will be glad to answer it in no time.

Can you send me your resume?

The fastest and easiest way to obtain an updated copy of my resume is by downloading it from my site. If I am not available for contracts, my resume will not be accessible. In that case, you are still welcome to give me a call at 416-937-3282

When are you going to be available for contracts again?

Monday 01-Aug-2011

Are you open to relocate?

I am open to relocate temporaly during a contract or permanently for a good project manager role in the Boston - MA area.

What kinds of roles can you perform?

In summary, over the past 21 years I have been involved in numerous custom systems' development, Oracle applications upgrades and full-life cycle implementations. I performed a full range of technical, functional and project management tasks, for several disparate clients, which included all three levels of government, crown companies, high-technology multi-conglomerates and not-for-profit organizations. I temporarily relocated to a total of eleven cities to work in projects which I believed were beneficial to my career growth. My education started with 3 years of computer engineering, which I didn't complete, followed by a diploma in Data Processing and a bachelor in Information Systems Management with honors, an award and on the Dean's list. I am an Oracle Certified Professional, a Project Management Professional and I hold a Canadian Government Secret Security Clearance which is valid until 2016. My largest project so has been the US$ 7.8 Bi KeyStone project in 2009, followed by the US$ 1.3 Bi BEST project in 2001 at Bell South. Currently, I am working with PWC Consulting, on a great project for the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador, to complete the upgrade to Oracle EBS Release 12 and Oracle Fusion middleware, and the integration of those systems to Hyperion, PeopleSoft HR and Siebel CRM. I expect this project to continue for the next 2 years and become my most profitable project yet.

Why are you moving towards Project Management?

A project manager is usually one of the first team members to arrive in a project and the last to depart, which translates into longer term contracts. Also, the contractual rate is usually higher. So, in 2006 I obtained my PMP designation and started focusing my career in the project management area. I am currently preparing for two additional project management certifications: Prince2 and ITIL V3. As baby boomers start to retire, I believe there will be plenty of opportunities for me to grow into higher IT management positions.

Can you tell me a little bit about your recent IT experience? (last 10 years)

As an independent consultant, I was able to invest massively in instructor-led training classes at Oracle Corporation and attend a great number of Oracle conferences and workshops. I even became an Oracle Partner from 1999 to 2001. I also became in charge of choosing my own roles, projects and locations. On the technical side, I mastered Oracle Forms, Reports, SQL*Plus, PL/SQL, stored procedures, database triggers, packages, Alerts, Pro*C++, Java, Flexfields, interfaces, APIs, workflow and Apps system admin. During 2001, I worked for Bell South on their Supply Chain Transformation project. The role of Technical Architect Coordinator was the first position I had at the manager level and it inspired a key career decision, to work on different roles, wearing many hats and taking more risks on my projects. As a result, in the years that followed I worked as business analyst, functional consultant, business intelligence expert, tester, trainer, mentor for Jr. resources, web developer, Jr. DBA, Apps system administrator, Discoverer administrator, project coordinator and finally, project manager. Also, I started taking night classes on HR, marketing, accounting, finance, operations and business management.

How did you start your career in Canada?

From 1995 to 2000, I worked mostly as sr. technical developer in several implementations of the core modules of Oracle Financials - General Ledger, Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, as my career prospered at full throttle. I also obtained experience with most of the other popular modules, like Order Entry, Purchasing, Inventory, Fixed Assets, Cash Management, Human Resources and Self-Service Apps.
